The
Finest Private Scottish Highland History, Heritage & Scenery Tours. We will collect you from your hotel, the station or airport and we depart Inverness along the northern Loch Ness road, seeing Urquhart Castle and Fort Augustus Abbey (seen below from the air) en route. Our route takes us almost the entire length of the Great Glen.
This tour is also a good tour for those who would like to end
their day on the west coast of Scotland as this would extend the number of
places visited too.
As well as travelling the length of Loch Ness we pass through the village of Fort Augustus, named after the infamous William Augustus Cumberland who defeated Bonnie Prince Charlie at Culloden in 1746 and then committed some awful war crimes upon the Highland people. Next we see Loch Oich, crisscross the Caledonian Canal at various points and then see the stunning Loch Lochy ... also reputed to have a monster. Further on our westward journey we see the famous Commando Memorial set in isolated splendour.
Now we push on to Glen Coe travelling up the pass and then descending to give the best perspective on this moody and dramatic Highland pass. Time here for the visitor centre if required before we start back to Fort William for coffee or lunch.
After Fort William we briefly visit the medieval Inverlochy Castle and an afternoon stop can also be made at the Spean Bridge woollen mill.
On the return to Inverness we take the back-roads depending on time available. Alternatively we can take you on to your west coast accommodation if this is a one-way tour.
A brilliant day for those wishing to see as much scenery as possible during your Highland visit.
Price: £240 for up to six passengers for this eight + hour tour.
